Grace... by ladysofhousen Grace... by ladysofhousen
Hi guys! :glomp:

A submission after so long! And in monotone! :squee:
This one's different and is more complicated than it seems! It's actually a portrait of my sister- well, cousin, but we literally grew up together. It's her Bharatanatyam Arangetram (Yes. It'll take you a couple of tries to say that right) That's basically a dance recital, and they asked me to draw a portrait for the invitation covers. This is the costume she will be wearing- complex, yeah?

I know it looks very prototype-like. That's because it is a prototype. It was digitally put on to a black background with a lot of these elegant design thingies. Also, I've never worked with green before, so this was definitely a first for me! :D

Specifics:
Time taken: Around 26-27 hours! :faint:

Stuff I used: Derwent Coloursoft pencils, HB click pencil, kneaded and hard erasers, blending stumps.

Size of the portrait: Around 35 X 24.5 cm.

I completed this early in October so you can only imagine how eager I've been to share it with you guys! :D

As always, comments, critiques, faves and watches are always, appreciated!

Thanks!
-S.

You're welcome. I like collecting depictions of traditional clothes and dances from around the world, the ones from India making a significant part of this collection. And I just couldn't pass by this work of yours. :)

I'm glad too. There are many photos of that kind but a pretty few detailed quality artworks like this one of yours. Where every small fold and tiny jewelry piece is in the place where it should be despite those dance costumes being so complex and thus probably hard to depict. :)

I like your idea of using the green here :) It makes your work outstanding, and since the contrasts are still intense it looks realistic, too
